Compensation:
$21.15-$24.27/ hr.
Work Schedule:
8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday, with potential two days a week telework option after training is completed.
General Summary:
Under the direction of the assistant director, Member Benefits Processing and the manager, Member Benefits Processing, review service retirement applications for accuracy and completeness. Analyze the member record to process service retirement applications, disability applications for payment, other system pays requests, required minimum distributions, account recalculations and resolve non-zero account balances. Correspond with members, other STRS Ohio departments, other retirement systems and any other interested party for required information to process applications for benefit payments.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Enter service retirement applications. Update computer system with required information.
Prepare benefit estimates as needed.
Monitor pending service retirement, disability and other system pays applications and conduct appropriate and timely follow-up to obtain outstanding information.
Answer inquiries concerning service retirement applications, process requirements and eligibility requirements.
Draft letters to members to address specific issues as required.
Analyze and evaluate additional information received and process benefit recalculations and resolve non-zero account balances related to the new retirement applications.
Own member issues and processing issues t
hat arise and bring to resolution. Seek guidance from management as needed.
Summary of Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred. College-level coursework and three years relevant experience required.
Ability to handle multiple priorities including regular workload and additional assigned tasks.
Professional courteous telephone demeanor necessary to deal effectively with internal and external contacts.
Ability to complete work in a positive manner and support the mission and vision of STRS Ohio and Member Benefits.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Sustained periods of concentration, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal direct supervision.
