Job Summary:
The instructional designer is tasked with creating training programs that encompass classroom, virtual, eLearning courses, and blended sessions. This includes developing and updating course content and coordinating the learning curriculum. The role focuses on utilizing adult learning and instructional design best practices to cultivate a highly skilled workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging learning activities and compelling course content to enhance knowledge retention and transfer.
- Create training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify the training needs of the target audience.
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning experience.
- Create supporting materials/media, such as audio, video, simulations, role plays, and games.
- Establish criteria for evaluating learner performance and develop assessment instruments.
- Measure training effectiveness and adjust materials as needed.
- Assess training and development needs through surveys, interviews, and communication with managers, instructors, and others.
- Develop and present various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees.
- Keep records of training activities, attendance, test results, assessments, and retraining requirements.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in training and development.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant field experience.
- Demonstrated experience in instructional design and instructional technology.
- Strong understanding of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Proficiency in writing effective copy, instructional text, and audio/video scripts.
- Skill in evaluating and researching training options and alternatives.
- Expertise in designing and implementing effective training and development programs.
- Knowledge of applying adult learning concepts and principles.
