Angel Oak Capital Advisors, LLC is the asset management arm focused on identifying and executing income-driven investment strategies to address opportunities within the mortgage and structured credit markets. The firm offers investment vehicles across a range of liquidity horizons to match client needs and return objectives. Through the Public Funds, investors obtain retail access to the structured credit market via mutual funds, ETFs, UCITS, and closed-end funds. Institutional investors gain access to private mortgage credit via Angel Oak’s integrated, “originate-to-own” approach. Our model allows for full transparency and control of the origination process as well as a consistent supply of investible assets which provides a distinct competitive advantage within mortgage credit investing that has not been replicated by any of the firm’s competitors.
Principal Responsibilities:
- General Accounting knowledge including a knowledge of GAAP, particularly as it pertains to asset management business
- Monitor cash accounts and prepare bank reconciliations
- Prepare and record journal entries including but not limited to accounts receivable, accruals, deferrals, and prepaids
- Manage Accounts Payable and Expense Reporting functions to ensure all transactions are recorded timely and accurately
- Ensure end of year 1099 reporting is accurately filed and completed
- Close the books monthly and annually
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and schedules to support internal decision-making and external reporting requirements
- Prepare financial related management reports
- Prepare schedules and work papers for auditors
- Communicate financial results to business managers
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting
- Minimum 5-7 years’ of work experience in corporate accounting
- Ability to manage AP, GL system and financial reporting
- Strong, organizational skill set required
- Must have the ability to handle multiple projects
- Motivated, self-starter with strong ability to follow detailed instructions
- Be able to operate effectively and efficiently in an environment with numerous deadlines and demands
- Strong communication skills; must be able to communicate with customers, subordinates, peers, senior managers
- Expertise in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Must be able to maintain privacy standards of sensitive information
- Must be able to maintain an amiable, team spirit attitude at all times
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience of working with an asset management company or at a big four firm serving asset management clients
- Experience of working with Oracle Financials and / or NetSuite, including developing functional specifications and assisting with configuration of the application, creating and enhancing system end-user documentation to support new system implementation, incident management
- Systems conversion experience would be a plus
