Job Description:


iParametrics is currently seeking a Mechanical Cost Engineer to join an esteemed Project Cost Management Team, supporting a prominent client known for their significant contributions to construction projects in the Pacific Northwest. This client, a century-old firm renowned for iconic constructions like major airports, urban high-rises, and innovative educational facilities, promotes a culture of innovation and employee ownership. Positioned in Sunnyvale, CA, the Mechanical Cost Engineer will focus on estimating, cost control, forecasting, and risk analysis for a large semiconductor manufacturing project.

This role is ideal for experienced project managers seeking to elevate their expertise in construction cost management on a larger scale.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the setup and maintenance of job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, and contingencies.
  • Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific category of change as outlined by the project.
  • Maintain project indicators, including visual graphics.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and equipment/material vendors to ensure that cost proposals are fair and align with contract requirements.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of project cost reports.
  • Interpret design and construction documents to quantify materials required for construction projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs to validate subcontractor proposals and prepare cost authorization packages.
  • Summarize material quantities in an organized manner for project analysis.

Qualifications:


Education:


  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field is required.
  • Education background in materials and methods of construction.

Experience:


  • At least two (2) years of construction estimating experience, ideally in industrial or hi-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects.

Skills:


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams) and general network computing.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Competence with design software including AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Training in reading and interpreting design and construction documents, specifications, and survey theory.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or off-shifts as needed to accommodate changing construction schedules.

Benefits/Compensation:


As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position is hourly ($41-64) based on experience, background, and skills.
