Shipping Technician
Job Description
Safely operates, maintains, and carries out assigned tasks of the Shipping operation. Responsible for directing and coordinating various shipping operations to assist in the orderly movement of finished products. Responsible for getting materials to/from the dock and loading trucks on Hoover CS yard. As schedule allows, may operate in the capacity of assembler, inspector, or forklift operator.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with assembly of products for shipping.
- Verifies shipping orders for quantities and destinations.
- Check items to be shipped against work orders.
- Collects serial numbers from products.
- Coordinate with Shipping Supervisor as to any situations that may cause delays in shipments and/or suggest corrective actions.
- Operates basic computer programs.
- Coordinates with other shipping employees to complete the shipping process.
- Handles parts and materials involved in the shipping process.
- Ensures materials and parts are available for orders coming down the line.
- Maintains quantities of materials, parts, and products.
- Maintains inventory of various materials, parts, and products, i.e., locations and quantities.
- Required to work on any physical inventory as scheduled.
- Performs routine clerical assignments in accordance with established procedures and under specific instructions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Basic computer and word processing skills; including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Ability to read and understand directions, shipping orders, SDS sheets, procedures, and checklists.
- Ability to clearly explain, demonstrate and give instructions on the shipping operation.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and to keep accurate inventory.
- Forklift Operator Certification preferred.
- Some advanced level computer courses are beneficial. 3-5 years successful experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in a shipping position and ISO facility.
Physical Demands:
- Moderate physical effort, which requires standing on a concrete floor for prolonged periods of time and going up and down steps.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Good hand and eye coordination.
- Good visual acuity.
- Must be able to climb, stoop and bend to get up and down forklift and perform various situations in production as needed.
Work Environment:
- This position is in an unairconditioned warehouse.
- Will be working in different weather conditions.
- Subject to loud noises.
