Job Summary:
We are seeking a driven, creative, and experienced HR Manager to join our HR function. The HR Manager will be responsible for leading and directing the routine HR functions of the HR department including talent acquisition, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits administration, and compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of HR principles and practices, leadership and management capabilities, and data analysis and interpretation.This new position will join a three person HR Team consisting of an HR Director, a Senior HR Associate, and an HR Associate.
This position will report to the HR Director. The firm’s overall workforce is comprised of approximately 220 employees who work in approximately 15 locations or remotely across the country. Raftelis’ headquarters is in uptown Charlotte.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Leads and manages a team of HR Professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and strong working relationships.
- Provides direction, development, and support. Activities include providing feedback on development goals, providing regular feedback and coaching, and completing the performance appraisal process.
- Oversees the workflow of the HR Department. Prioritizes tasks and delegates as appropriate.
Talent Acquisition
- Manages and oversees the entire talent acquisition process including firm branding, qualified candidate sourcing, job posting creation and advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and the skills and competencies required for openings.
Employee Relations
- Serves as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related issues
- Provides support and guidance when complex, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigations, and terminations.
Employee Engagement
- Leads employee engagement initiatives and programs that promote a positive environment. This may include leading/conducting employee surveys, stay interviews, employee check-ins, etc.
Performance Management
- Manages and drives the performance management process including the annual development goal setting process, mid-year check-in process, and annual performance appraisal process.
- Provides coaching and support to managers and employees on performance-related issues.
Learning and Development
- Oversees the new hire orientation process.
- Promotes current learning and development opportunities firm wide.
- In partnership with other firm leaders, assess, design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning programs. This will include a New Hire Training Program, Supervisory Program, and Mid-Career Development Program.
Compensation and Benefits
- Oversees the administration of the employee compensation and benefit programs including medical insurance, retirement plans, etc.
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits and make recommendations based on learning.
- Maintains partnerships with external vendors and leverage resources offered.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

- Oversees audits to ensure HR practices align with legal requirements and best practices.
Other
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Conducts research, analyzes metrics, and identifies trends to provide insight and recommendations.
- Prioritize Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of the HR function, ensuring that DEI principles are integrated into our policies, practices, and culture.
- Support Raftelis Leaders in the firm’s strategic objectives.
- Continuously seeks opportunities to improve the HR function, resulting in improved business outcomes and an even better experience for Raftelis employees.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong understanding of HR principles and practices. Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven leadership and management abilities.
- Ability to act with integrity and professionalism. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively. A keen eye for detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the firm’s HRIS, Performance Management systems, and ATS. Raftelis uses ADP, Lattice, and Breezy, respectively.
- Ability to travel on occasion.
Desirable Experience:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- HR Certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR)

The salary range for the HR Manager position is $95k to $110k. Compensation depends on education and experience. Employees in the position of HR Manager may be eligible for an annual performance bonus, depending on the firm’s yearly performance and the performance of the employee. Such bonuses are not guaranteed and are at the discretion of the firm.
