Job Title: Program Coordinator
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Acadiana region)Reports to: Executive DirectorPosition ProfileThe Girls on the Run® South Louisiana Program Coordinator must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. Girls on the Run provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living including introductions and education on important topics like goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect. The innovative curriculum gives girls an opportunity to listen and open up while encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and harness their inner strengths.

Girls on the Run South Louisiana is a 501(c)(3) organization and currently serves East Baton Rouge, Ascension, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, Vermillion, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa & Washington parishes.Girls on the Run believes that all girls and communities should have access to our programs. We are committed to leveraging our intellectual, financial, and human resources to advance strategies to be inclusive, equitable and accessible to all.The Program Coordinator in Acadiana is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Executive Director.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for recruiting Girls on the Run program sites and coach volunteers in the Acadiana region while supporting the council-at-large. Some of the key responsibilities include:Program Management

  • Collaborate with the team to Implement the Girls on the Run strategic program plan and achieve program goals
  • Expand the Girls on the Run program to new sites in Acadiana region
  • Work with community leaders, schools and other groups to maximize Girls on the Run success
  • Support the needs of both new and existing sites by maintaining effective communication with site personnel and volunteers, and by conducting regular site visits
  • Enforce all current site policies and procedures and generate innovation and improvement as needed
  • Support Program Director in the inventory and packaging of curriculum materials each season

Coach Management and Training

  • Ensure all program sites in Acadiana are staffed with qualified volunteer coaches
  • Support the coordination of National Coach Training, including CPR/First Aid certifications and background checks, each season in Acadiana
  • Provide direct support to address any concerns or issues during the season including behavioral issues, facility use, coach availability/substitute needs, and other challenges as they arise

Organizational Support

  • Play a key role in hosting the fall and spring end-of-season 5K events in Lafayette, and support the events in Baton Rouge
  • Represent the organization at Acadiana community events to raise awareness of the GOTR program and mission and to build partnerships within the community.
  • Support coordination and attend organization events including site visits, prospective site or coach meetings, coach training, fundraisers and the Girls on the Run events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years experience in communications/marketing, sales, education, or administrative work
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)
  • Ability to work well in a small office setting, function as a team player on a range of projects, and also work independently to meet deadlines on assigned duties
  • Experience managing volunteers or employees is a plus
  • Comfortable in a hybrid work environment with a balance between remote (from Lafayette) and in-person work (scheduled Baton Rouge office team days)

Girls on the Run offers a flexible work environment for remote and in-person work, however, candidates must reside in Acadiana. Girls on the Run offers generous PTO days and paid holidays, a healthcare stipend, and work laptop. Ideal position start date is late August.

Life at Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.\n\nGirls on the Run International (GOTRI) is the parent organization of more than 200 Girls on the Run councils across the United States and Canada. GOTRI establishes, trains and supports a network of community-level councils with local volunteers. The volunteers serve as role models to the girls through coaching the 10-week, 20 lesson curricula.
