The Opportunity:
Recycling Management Resources is seeking a highly motivated Lead Equipment Operator to join our team. The Lead Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment (including baler, skid steer, forklift etc.) The Lead Equipment Operator is also responsible for the coordination of activities of the Equipment Operators at the plant.
How you will make an impact:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily:
- Operate various equipment and machinery including Skid steer, forklift, baler, shredder, guillotine, etc.
- Assign and oversee the work of other Equipment Operations
- Report any necessary repairs to the supervisor or manager on duty
- Observe, record, and report any potential malfunction or disruption of plant activities
- Perform inspections effectively and accurately in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Follow and enforce all company safety policies and procedures
Additional Leadership Responsibilities include:
- Train or assist in training new employees
- Establish or amend work procedures to meet production schedules
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency
- Direct employees in completion of work
- Interpret instructions, or job orders to employees and assign duties
- Confer with supervisor or manager to coordinate activities of individual tasks or shifts
What you need to succeed:
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required
- Mechanical, equipment or trade school certificate or training preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA required, preferably in a recycling facility
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment including, but not limited to forklifts, bobcats, skid steers, etc. required.
- A valid driver’s license and any applicable regulatory licensing is required.
- Prior leadership experience is preferred
Required Skills & Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas:
- Promotes and upholds the Company’s safety standards.
- Must be willing to work outdoors and/or in a plant environment. At times required to work various hours and/or weekends as necessary.
- Must be skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships within and across teams and collaborate effectively.
- Must have ability to multitask, exceptional time management, and organizational skills to execute daily production plan.
