Job Summary
The IT System Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and security and privacy of networks, computer systems and staff. This position does perform work outside of regular operating business hours.
Responsibilities and Duties
- System Support and Maintenance:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, network hardware, applications, services, and settings
- Support camera, alarm, and physical security systems
- Create and maintain technical support documentation for systems and applications
- Log and address all computer, terminal, and printer hardware/software issues
- Maintain inventory of IT assets and manage software licensing for users and applications
- Create scripts for the automation of common tasks
- Network Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and connectivity for all computer workstations
- Install, configure, and maintain network cabling, hubs, switches, and UPS
- Develop and enforce policies for network resource usage, security, and disaster recovery
- Periodically test backup facilities by restoring files, applications, and systems on different network hardware
- Perform capacity planning and research on network products, services, protocols, and standards
- Security and Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and audit NIST and CMMC controls
- Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades
- Investigate and report security breaches; research and recommend solutions
- Install, configure, and maintain IPS/IDS, firewalls, antivirus, antispam, and antimalware solutions
- Collaborate with InfoSec to establish and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for LAN, WAN, and security
- Maintain data for redundancy efforts and assist with remediation as needed
- User and Device Support:
- Provide support to all users, including BYOD devices
- Create and maintain network users and permissions
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and hybrid integration with Microsoft Cloud
- Install, configure, and support video and audio-conferencing products, printers, and copiers
- Support user devices by imaging or installing workstations and laptops
- Communication and Collaboration Tools:
- Maintain Unified Communications, VoIP, and related equipment, services, and platforms
- Support Google Cloud appliances and VPN connections
- Generate and support queries for Microsoft SQL and MySQL databases
- Support Microsoft IIS and Apache web servers
- General Responsibilities:
- Assist with software upgrades and installations
- Perform additional duties as required for overall company management and operation
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred
- 2+ years in a network administrator role
- Previous experience with Microsoft Windows Server
- Previous experience with switches and routers
- Comfortable working in a hybrid office environment with on-call duties
- Experience in customer service and network security and support for 100+ users
- Knowledge of PowerShell, Azure Active Directory, Office 365, Linux systems and VoIP phone systems
- Experience in database querying from Microsoft SQL and MySQL preferred
- Net+, CCNA, or similar certification preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Physical Requirements
While the role is primarily sedentary, occasional filing duties may require lifting files, accessing filing cabinets, and standing on a stool if necessary. The employee must be capable of using hands and fingers for handling objects, tools, or controls, as well as reaching, talking, and hearing. Additionally, the ability to lift 5-15lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
