Project Manager - Life Sciences

OBJECTIVE:
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the coordination of internal resources and third parties/clients for the execution of multiple projects. The PM in Life Sciences assists in the development of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility through communication with Facility Directors and Operation Managers. The PM ensures schedules are accurate, animal inventories are updated regularly, and in vivo technical procedures are accurately tracked to allow for billing of clients. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or Life Sciences equivalent work experience.
  • AALAS Certification at the LAT level (LAT g, preferred).
  • Experience working with Small Animals preferred (mice, rats, ferrets, etc.).
  • Able to supervise and assist with necropsy procedures including tissue collection.
  • Knowledgeable in collection, verifying facility records, blood/tissue and various fluid samples from the animals.
  • Able to supervise and perform various IV, SC, intranasal and intramuscular injections.
  • Experience working with infectious disease is preferred. 
  • Experience working at a CRO preferred. 
  • Experience working with GLP regulations preferred.
  • Experience working on murine tumor models preferred.
  • Experience managing mouse breeding colonies is preferred.
  • Experience managing toxicology studies and/or PK/PD studies is preferred. 
  • Experience working in high-containment a plus (ABSL3/SRA).
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with project management software tools is a plus.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and contract report writing is a preferred.
  • Experience working on in vivo projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule all work tasks to be performed daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Update and maintain animal inventories.
  • Create and revise study schedules and prepare animal orders.
  • Maintain and update the Master Study Schedule and input scheduled procedures into Laboratory Information Management System(s)(LIMS).
  • Coordinate and verify study schedules with investigators.
  • Participate in study planning and update meetings with clients and PIs.
  • Write and review SOPs that are pertinent to company equipment, procedures, and policies.
  • Review IACUC Protocols, Study Protocols and SOPs for assigned projects and suggest revisions as needed.
  • Work with PIs to schedule requested procedures and notify them of any scheduling concerns that may affect the optimal performance of the study.
  • Communicate with the client or Pl to alert them of impactful changes to study.
  • Supply data to Pis promptly as requested and in the appropriate format.
  • Arrange client site visits with facility staff as requested.
  • Inform veterinarian and P.I./Study Director of sick or injured animals.
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, detailed communication briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Review pricing proposals for accuracy and update metrics and unit pricing templates as needed
  • Review and analyze project costs and budgetary information.
  • Write and deliver reports to comply with contract requirements.
  • Liaison with Accounting Department to provide deliverables e.g., billable items, milestones, etc. in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • May be required to work in high-containment facility (ABSL3) and with Select Agents.
  • Supervise technical staff directly, participate in the hiring process.
  • Participate in both internal and external site inspections (IACUC, USDA, AAALAC, ect) and respond to audit findings accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
