Wash Technician
Job Overview
We are currently hiring full-time Tank Wash Technicians. The Tank Wash Technician is responsible for performing all aspects of tank trailer and ISO cleaning, and IBC totes including inspecting the trailer/tote for residual product, and post-cleaning inspection of the interior/exterior of the trailer and maintenance of equipment used in the cleaning process. Duties include properly disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, and reassembling tank internally and externally. Must be able to work in tight spaces, climb across narrow bridges.
Working in confined spaces is required.
Responsibilities:
- Clean Hazardous and Non-Hazardous interior of tanks while wearing multiple components of PPE including full face respirators in compliance with company cleaning policies and procedures.
- Checks calibration equipment to ensure accurate readings of gas content meters, pH meters.
- Connects high-pressure air, steam and water hoses and operates cleaning rack equipment - Manually remove product by forms of digging, shoveling, and pulling buckets from tank interior as required.
- Inspect clean tank interiors for compliance with customer and company requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, i.e., min/max on chemicals & equipment checks.
- Set up, maintain, and adjust Wash Line sprayer equipment.
- Provide information to supervisors / managers.
- Operates testing equipment to monitor the cleaning operations before confined space entry.
- Adhere to confine space entry procedures, which entails hole watch, entry, and all other safety regulations.
- Determine the correct concentration level for the chemical wash mix.
- Keep an inventory of chemicals used in the wash process and notify supervisor when order points are hit.
- Handle parts and materials used on the Wash Line.
- Position and maneuver products, parts, and equipment on the Wash Line manually, using a hoist and using the manipulator.
- Position ladder and box to get in and out of products on the Wash Line
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and report potential hazards.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Must be able to read and understand English for the purposes of interpreting MSDS documents.
- Experience in pressure washing, hydro-blasting, and/or working with chemicals highly preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience in transportation, chemicals, supply chain, manufacturing, or logistics.
- Work weekends or holidays as production requires
- Able to take inventory of products used on the Wash Line
- Able to measure volumes to determine the concentration of Wash Line chemical mixes.
- Forklift Operator Experience.
- 2-3 years of successful continuous employment in an industrial setting where employee would have learned to be productive.
- Able to clearly communicate with all other operators throughout the floor.
- Ideal candidate will have one or more of the following: HAZWOPER, working at heights, confined spaces certified, respirator experience, chemical handling or, RCRA.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. frequently.
- Moderate physical effort which requires standing on a concrete floor for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb, bend, and stoop to perform various functions of the position.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Good visual acuity.
Work Environment:
- Work is in an unairconditioned warehouse.
- Will be working in different weather conditions.
- Subject to loud noises.
