  • This is a full-time position that will report to the Director of Operations and interact with the Director of Operations, the Chief Pilot, the Manager of Inflight, the Director of Maintenance, the Manager on Duty (MOD), and theManager of Crew Scheduling. The Manager of Flight Following is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day flight planning and logistics of the airline relating to aircraft, security, personnel, and costs. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of all FAR Part 121 aircraft flight planning and flight following requirements.

    Good communication skills are required, and the successful candidate must be able to exhibit the values and culture of the company while working with flight crews in a fast-paced/dynamic environment.

  • Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties of the Manager of Flight Following are as follows: 
    • The Manager of Flight Following must be highly knowledgeable of FAA Regulations, the Company’s GOM, SOCM, OpSpecs, and other materials pertinent to the duties.
    • Must be highly knowledgeable in in-flight planning and flight following, logistic support, and must be able to make time-dependent logistical decisions relating to the safety of flight, security, personnel, and costs.
    • Exercises sound-good judgment at all times to ensure the least amount of risk to the airline's daily flight following operations while making common-sense decisions that help to ensure good productivity and efficiency;
    • Oversees aircraft flight following to ensure that flight operations are conducted in a professional manner and in accordance with applicable FAA regulations, Company’s GOM, SOCM, and OpSpecs;
    • Puts policies and procedures in place, and makes recommendations to higher-level management that help ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft;
    • Manages aircraft flight followers to ensure that flights are planned in accordance with appropriate regulations and policies at all times in accordance with 14 CFR FAR Part 121 supplemental regulations;
    • Facilitates communication between flight following team and others such as for scheduled and non-scheduled aircraft maintenance with the Director of Maintenance, Maintenance Control, or designee;
    • Generates reports and is responsible for the flight following department records to ensure accurate reporting, currency, accounting, and retention as required;
    • Ensures that all aircraft flight followers remain current in their qualifications by coordinating all recurrent training and ensures all new hires are properly trained and qualified before beginning their duties;
    • Works with outside vendors at the direction of higher-level management to ensure systems remain reliable and identifies areas for improvement relating to systems or resources;
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations;

  • Qualifications

    • FAA Aircraft Dispatchers license is preferred
    • Associate degree or higher preferred
    • 3-5 years of previous experience working in an aircraft dispatch or flight followingenvironment for a Part 121 or Part 135 air carrier; international experience preferred
    • 3-5 years of previous supervisory and/or leadership experience is required
    • 3-5 years of customer service experience, airline or travel-related environment preferred
    • Reliable and self-motivated with a positive attitude
    • Able to multitask efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines
    • Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
    • PC proficient in Microsoft Office products and general internet applications
    • Ability to work any shift including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
    • Pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC)
    • Eligible to work in the United States.
