Position Summary:
This position is responsible for analyzing and accounting for the company’s oil and gas accounting activities and other corporate accounting matters
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes business transactions of moderate complexity and determines appropriate treatment through research or collaboration with subject matter
- Responsible for all the accounting of Oil and Gas properties under successful Efforts method of accounting, including accounting for leasehold, reserves, implements and Oil and Gas DD&A
- Interacts with various other departments within the company to obtain information needed on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Prepare, maintains, or develop various schedules, reports and analyses for distribution to internal/external parties
- Assists in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial packets
- Reconciles and/or analyzes general ledger accounts and proposes necessary adjusting entries, as required
- Provides information and explanation for audit requests from internal auditors
- Serves as resources or subject matter expert, to colleagues with less experience as well as personnel in Land administration and Reservoir Engineering
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum Requirement:
- Prior experience in an upstream Oil & gas Accounting department
- Ability to work under tight deadlines at month and quarter end
- Ability to use Microsoft excel to work with large amounts of data
- Ability to assimilate complex concepts into schedules that succinctly communicate results
Preferred:
- Big 4 experience
- CPA Certification a plus
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field of study with a strong accounting emphasis
- 5+ years accounting experience
- Self- starter with proven ability to establish and meet goals and deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a fast pace, dynamic environment
- Oil and gas experience and public accounting experience a plus
