Opportunity:
TAYS is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Data Analytics team. The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in extracting, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets to derive patterns, trends, and correlations. Using advanced analytics and statistical techniques, you will interpret complex data and provide meaningful insights. This position involves developing and implementing predictive models and algorithms to enhance decision-making processes.
This is a permanent, W2 position and will consist of a hybrid schedule. The Data Scientist must reside within 2 hours of Woodlawn, MD.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis: Extract, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
- Use statistical techniques and advanced analytics to interpret complex data and provide meaningful insights.
- Working Knowledge of SaaS: Experience utilizing Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms for data analytics, machine learning model deployment, and data management, with a focus on leveraging cloud-based tools to streamline workflows and enhance data processing efficiency.
- Build files to merge case data across different data sources and systems, which have slightly different granularities and unique identifiers.
- Predictive Modeling: Develop and implement predictive models and algorithms using machine learning techniques. Apply data mining, statistical modeling, and optimization algorithms to solve business problems and improve processes.
- Predict the following: First, whether the case will be an affirmance/dismissal or a remand/reversal; Second, in the case of a remand/reversal, whether it will be a remand or a reversal; Third, in the case of a remand, whether it will be a voluntary or court-ordered remand.
- Data Visualization: Communicate findings and insights effectively through visualizations, reports, and presentations. Present complex data in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and define analytical requirements. Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to ensure smooth integration of data science solutions into existing systems.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling techniques. Explore and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of data analysis and predictive modeling.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Experience with data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn)
- Familiarity with SQL, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and big data frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Experience in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and statistical modeling
- The ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust.
Desired Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field is a plus.
- An active Public Trust or higher
