Position Title: Transportation Specialist (Driver/Courier)


Location: Norcross, GA (plus surrounding territories)


FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt


Hourly Rate: $19 - $20/hr.

Position Summary:


The Transportation Specialist will report directly to the Dispatch Team Lead, Asst. Operations Manager or Operations Manager and will have no direct reports. This position is responsible for supporting the sales organization by transporting medical devices to/from specified locations in the assigned areas.

Scope of Role Responsibilities:


  • Delivers medical devices to hospitals and surgery centers as directed by the Operations Manager, Dispatcher and/or any other designated company representative.
  • Performs delivery set-ups, and pick-ups in accordance with the customer’s request and expectations.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and condition of medical equipment and supplies per company standards and the needs of customer.
  • Maintains, organizes, and ensures that delivery vehicles are operational, receive necessary maintenance, are clean and meet regulatory standards.
  • Ensures delivery vehicles are stocked with appropriate supplies, safety, personal protective and cleaning equipment.
  • Ensures company records, files, and documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Performs necessary equipment maintenance.
  • Resolve service complaints or issues.
  • Follows DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain accountability of inventory on Proof of Delivery Record.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining a Receiving Log and Instrument Log.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times when handling inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness of company’s receiving, shipping, and loading dock areas.
  • Transport inventory for cases.
  • Organize inventory at hospital locations.
  • Load, unload, stack containers, materials, and products.
  • Maintain a safe company van. (fuel, oil and sanitary)
  • Collect shipping/receiving boxes and dispose of them with other trash.
  • Maintain well organized shipping parking lot and realign to layout.
  • Responsible for organization of off-loading and staging of receiving area.
  • Maintain organization of inventory tubs outside caged area.
  • Reconcile fuel card each month by deadline via Concur.
  • Perform or assist with other duties and projects as needed & as assigned.

Critical Experience & Skills


:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of courier or driving experience in a logistics environment preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment in which collaboration in all directions is necessary.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills are essential to success in this position.
  • Able to work varying hours as necessary. (to include possible evenings and rotating weekends)
  • Must have valid unexpired U.S. Driver’s License with clean/clear motor vehicle driving report (to be provided by candidate at time of interview (no more than 2 moving violations within the past 2 years, no other driving offenses).
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and comprehensive background check (criminal & civil for city, county, state and nationwide).

Physical Demands:


  • Moderate to heavy physical activity. Repetitive daily lifting of at least 50 pounds.
  • Standing, lifting, sitting and moving for extended amounts of time.
