We’re a fun group, finding various ways of celebration that has contributed to our 25 years of success in cloud technology management.A cloud operation engineer ensures the smooth functioning of cloud environments by managing tasks including incident response, monitoring and optimizing cloud-based environments and configuration management.
They work with various technologies, such as storage, network equipment, servers and other hardware components. A part of their job involves creating and monitoring the system's dashboard and reviewing system logs and critical events.
- Plan, schedule, and execute operating system patching across cloud infrastructure. Ensure timely application of patches to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Continuously monitor systems for compliance with patch management policies. Generate reports on patch status, compliance, and any issues encountered during the patching process.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to patch deployment and system performance post-patching. Work closely with support and development teams to address any disruptions caused by patches
- Collaborate with peers and prepare routine operational metric reporting of key process indicators
- Collaborate with peers on Automation Continuous Improvement (what can we automate next?)
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of patching processes, schedules, and compliance reports. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audit purposes.
- Continuously improve the patch management process to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime. Review system performance and efficiency; conduct bottleneck evaluation to identify performance issues and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
- Perform activities related to install, configuration, and management of traditional and cloud patching as it relates to Tanium, Azure, AWS, GCP, and VMware Platforms
- Interact with company personnel at all levels and across all business units to capture business drivers; strong customer / client focus, with the ability to manage expectations appropriately, to provide a superior experience and build long-term relationships
- Collaborate with the team and stake holders to provide and acquire information and to build consensus regarding project direction
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Windows) and their patching mechanisms.
- Professional experience as a Security Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Network Engineer; familiarity with at least one other discipline, and interest in growing in the remaining disciplines
- Experience administrating, monitoring and patching a broad array of Windows/Mac/Linux endpoints including third party software, configurations and troubleshooting.
- Administrative experience with AWS, Azure and/or GCP – specifically server/instance lifecycle (build, manage, patch, tune, decom)
- Basic Network troubleshooting skills (subnetting, routing, DHCP, firewall rules)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern engineering team.
- Hands-on and management experience specific endpoint security and patching tools
- Experience with physical/virtual infrastructure, network, or security troubleshooting and remediation.
- Experience installing, patching and upgrading applications and performing system maintenance.
- Experience on delivering a service and providing recommendations on Strategy and process design for continuous enhancement and deliverability.
- Experience with ITIL best practices with Incident, Problem, Release, and Change Management within ServiceNow or other ITSM systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on and management experience specific endpoint security tools: Tanium
- Familiarity with debuggers, runtime analysis, library systems, compiled programming, and software update tools.
- Prior engineering experience in endpoint security solutions to include and not limited to (EDR)Endpoint Detection & Response, File Integrity Monitoring, Device Management, Vulnerability Management etc.
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Experience supporting a 24x7 production environment.
