Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Planning & Inventory Management is a fully remote position that will report directly to the Head of Planning and Inventory Management in the Supply Chain department. This leader will use the analytical, merchandising, and sales data of the company to effectively estimate future inventory needs based on their demand forecast, and drive topline sales, profit, and gain market share across SimpleTire’s portfolio of business. Their duties include planning optimal inventory, analyzing statistical data, and generating forecasting solutions in both hybrid and virtual environments.
Essential job functions:
- Develop, maintain, and improve a unit sales forecast and inventory plan across multiple business categories, regions, and tiers
- Ensure the alignment of this forecast with internal partners through the monthly business planning processes, and lead in season gap planning with the sales channels
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to manage portfolio lifecycle and influence virtual supplier network on product assortment, inventory availability, program needs, phase-in/phase-out forecasting, product discontinuation, and MAP vs non-MAP
- Responsible for maximizing sales and profit through proper planning and influencing of inventory placement with supplier teams
- Ensure that baseline demand is appropriately forecasted and maintained
- Improve forecast accuracy by analyzing forecast error, recommending, and implementing appropriate action plans
- Identify/manage exceptions, and monitor performance to continually improve the quality and reliability of the plan
- Explore and experiment new ways of utilizing data and statistical methods to enhance the quality of the unit sales forecast and generate high value business insights within and beyond Inventory Management.
- Develop and maintain reports to track and monitor the forecasts, alerts for corrections/improvements and other analytical insights
- Hire and develop a high performing team that reflects SimpleTire culture and values and is able to effectively scale as the business grows
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in Supply Chain or Planning. 4+ years experience with inventory planning (and demand forecasting) preferably within an ecommerce environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Experience working with virtual and/or aggregated inventory models preferred
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
- Advance Excel required; SQL and/or other experience with other advanced analytical tools preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Talking through the computer for many meetings and one-to-one conversations
- Continuous viewing of a computer monitor and data entry.
- Travel as necessary (<10%).
