This position will play a paramount role in the development and enhancement of our software solutions. It requires curiosity, attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate and communicate with all levels of technologists and the business.
The successful candidate will work closely with geneticists, bioinformaticians, and laboratory professionals to create robust software solutions that streamline testing and reporting workflows and enhance the overall efficiency of our operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development using C# or other OOP languages.
- 5+ years of professional experience in front-end development with React or Angular
- Extensive experience with web application development.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database design and optimization (e.g., SQL server).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Detail-oriented approach to work, ensuring accuracy and precision in coding and testing.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and shifting requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the healthcare industry, especially within genetic testing.
- Familiar with Python
- Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration and deployment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements, specifications, and architecture.
- Document current system process and workflows.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers to maintain coding best practices and standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, ensure a smooth and error-free user experience.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics’ Compliance Program.
