ForeFlight is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience migrating services and infrastructure from AWS Commercial to AWS GovCloud. This role will ensure that our government clients have access to our cutting-edge ForeFlight capabilities in a secure FedRAMP-compliant environment. Our ideal candidate is passionate about standing up, testing and operating AWS infrastructure in a smooth and automated fashion.
In this position, you will help lead the effort to bake quality and compliance into our automated delivery pipelines and to surface insights into how things are running. You will also work with software engineers from multiple server engineering teams to help write infrastructure as code to replicate existing ForeFlight services in AWS GovCloud.This position can be based at one of our three offices (Austin, TX, Houston, TX, or Portland, ME) or fully remote from select states. Required Skills:


  • 3+ years of software development in Java, Python, or .NET
  • Strong experience with DevOps tools and methodologies
  • Strong experience with AWS ECS, Aurora, AWS networking, CloudFront, etc.
  • Experience authoring CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience authoring infrastructure as code (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.)
  • Able to grasp complex issues and identify potential solutions
  • Experience working across various development and operation teams to achieve common goals
  • Broad understanding of deployment and operations across app server and database technologies
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Nice to Have:


  • Experience with FedRAMP certification
  • AWS Certification
  • Experience with Java Spring Boot, Docker, Datadog, Backstage
  • Aviation Experience (e.g., pilot, dispatcher, flight ops)
