About Our Opportunity


As a Software Developer II, you will contribute significantly on software that processes healthcare claims, making sure they meet standards, and manage data. You'll be involved in creating, testing, and maintaining this software, which is crucial for both Valenz and our clients. You will work closely with our internal and external teams identifying challenges and supporting the development of innovative solutions that support our goals as an organization.You’ll drive our projects forward with your skills in communication, documentation, creativity, problem-solving, and technical expertise.

 

Things You’ll Do Here: 


  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with a team of developers in building and updating custom applications, ensuring adherence to coding best practices and security standards. Provide support to junior developers, contributing to their learning and growth.
  • Problem-Solving: Employ technical knowledge to identify and resolve application issues. Participate in troubleshooting, analysis, and modification of systems including scripting, testing, debugging, and documentation under the guidance of more experienced developers.
  • Project Participation: Contribute actively to multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality of deliverables. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align development efforts with business objectives. Participate in project-related ceremonies or standups as required.
  • Continuous Learning and Innovation: Keep updated on new technologies and methods. Support the introduction of innovative solutions and improvements to existing systems. Participate in research and development efforts to expand product capabilities.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to the quality of code and documentation, assisting in the smooth transition of applications. Support adherence to company policies and industry standards.

What You’ll Bring to the Team: 


  • Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a background in Python application development.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Solid knowledge of Python. Familiarity with ASGI-WSGI / Flask is beneficial.
  • Experience in web application development (knowledge of VUE.js is a plus).
  • Understanding of PostgreSQL, SQL, ORM frameworks, and web scraping technologies.
  • Familiarity with the SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Growth and Collaboration Skills: Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate within a team. Open to mentoring from senior team members and eager to assist in project needs.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration and documentation.
  • Adaptability: Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing project priorities.
  • Self-Driven: Capable of working independently with guidance, managing tasks to completion within established practices.

A plus if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with SQL and ORM frameworks.
  • Familiarity with WSGI or Flask.
  • Experience with web scraping technologies.
  • Familiarity with ANSI X12 healthcare transactions (837, 834, 997, etc.).
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry and with claims applications.
