Summary:


The Product Development Project Manager, BD is responsible for the execution of the Product Strategy initiatives and roadmap related to business development . This role will work closely with the Director of Product Development, managing the Reference Lab Products that are essential to BG’s current and future business. 

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field such as genetic counseling, genetics, genomics, biotechnology, molecular biology etc.

  • 3+ years project management, product development or equivalent combination.
  • Understanding of channel partner dynamics and experience in managing partner relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to align product strategies with partner requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills. Able to effectively facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Able to manage multiple projects of simple to moderate complexity at the same time.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through ambiguous situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally travel (5-10%).

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for managing cross-functional teams through product development from Concept through Commercialization.
  • Build project plans that meet business objectives, align stakeholders, initiate and track development projects, manage the timeline, establish development budget, and drive project team accountabilities to deliver the final project objectives.
  • Work with functional partners to define and align on the business case and diagnostic domain portfolio fit.
  • Develop and implement project charters and metrics; obtain stakeholder alignment; identify project risks and develop risk mitigation plans; be a source of conflict resolution.
  • Leverages well-developed interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with functional groups throughout the organization.
  • Lead in preparing and present project updates and stage-gate reviews at Leadership forums.
  • Use strong business knowledge, technical skills and sound judgment to effectively assess risk, develop contingencies and determine when to elevate issues.
  • Uses strong project and organizational knowledge, leadership and active facilitation to enable effective team meetings and high-performance teams.
  • Proactively manages project risk and critical path items and effectively removes roadblocks.
  • Identifies interdependencies and strategic ways to facilitate project success.
  • Creates and maintains project records, including a design history file.
  • Ensures accuracy and high quality of project documentation.
  • Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Logical and critical thinker; able to identify and apply relevant qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work constructively in team settings, respectful of others.
  • Microsoft Office suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ability to learn research databases quickly.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Smartsheets, or other project management tools.
  • Strong written and presentation skills and ability to deliver PowerPoint presentations to share competitive findings across multiple levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to serve as an advisor to internal customers.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience launching new products or managing product changes.
  • Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
  • Experience in a GMP or regulated environment (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Diagnostics, or Consumer Product) is a plus.
  • Project management training and certification (e.g. PMP) is a plus.
