The Automotive Ethernet Segment (AES) is part of the Product Line (PL) In Vehicle Networking (IVN) and is one of the fastest growing segments within NXP. The systems team within AES is responsible for the product definition of our Automotive Ethernet switch SoCs, physical layer and software products. The team is defining the System Requirements and System Architecture and provides them to our new product creation teams. We work closely with the application team, marketing team, sales team and directly with customers worldwide.
Our team is well recognized within the automotive market as experts and belongs to the cross-industry community that introduces novelties in car networking. The location of this vacancy is Hamburg, Germany.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Define the software system architecture and system requirements for Automotive Ethernet products including PHYs and Switch SoCs.
- Work closely with different internal software teams to provide early inputs influencing the implementation.
- Collaborate with external software partners to ensure a proper eco-system for our products.
- Contribute to system architecture of the microcontroller subsystem of the Ethernet Switch SoC products.
- Together with marketing, work with customers and other external and internal stakeholders worldwide to understand requirements derived from future E/E architectures and promote NXP’s technical solutions.
- Cooperate with other system architecture teams within NXP and external 3rd parties to create complete system solution packages and eco-system.
- Contribute to workshops and trainings with automotive manufacturers and their electronic subsystem suppliers.
- Contribute to thought leadership activities through presentations at conferences, trade fairs, articles, etc.
Required and desired skills and experience
- Several years of experience linked to embedded software development using automotive semiconductors and electronics.
- Hands-on experience with Ethernet switches, PHYs, embedded microcontrollers, and their low-level drivers
- Good background in embedded software architecture and development processes.
- Ideally knowledge about Ethernet-based network implementations using AVB and TSN technologies.
- Knowledge of the automotive market and applications is a plus.
- Experience with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Cyber Security (ISO21434) is a plus.
- Known to deal with multi-disciplinary, multi-national teams and able to drive complex topics to a conclusion.
- Ability to communicate clearly, paying attention to details and the unique needs of different audiences.
- Talent to build strong relationships both to internal and external customers.

- University degree in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, or similar
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, cross-cultural mind-set, and team player
- Independent working style, fast learner, creative and open for new ideas
- Fluent in English
