POSITION SUMMARY


Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking a highly motivated student or recent graduate to build practical knowledge and gain hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment. The Apprentice CNC Machinist will assist with the setup and operation of a computer numerical control (CNC) machine alongside an experienced machinist. They will adhere to  safety and quality standards, maintain equipment and supplies, and assist with various shop activities.

This is a part-time position (25-29 hours per week).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Receive on-the-job training in basic measurements, assembly, safety, blueprint reading, and many other manufacturing processes• Rebuild dies and components Under supervision, operates machine tools and equipment, such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses, cut off saws and CNC turning and milling equipment• Under supervision, operate machine tools and equipment, such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses, cut off saws and CNC turning and milling equipment• Clean and assemble components as required.• Clean work areas as needed.• Perform maintenance on machines as required• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment in all working areas.• Repair and modify equipment with instructions from supervisor.• Complete basic shop related duties as needed when not assigned to a specific test.• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS & ABILITIES


Education:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience:

No prior experience is required, 1-2 years in shop environment preferred.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills

Other Requirements:

Basic mechanical skills required. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Possessing some knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals is preferred.
