Job Summary


Job Purpose:
Working collaboratively with the Corporate VP of Sales, the Director, Sales Account Management is directly responsible and accountable for the Dearborn Group’s Account Management function, including but not limited to life, disability, and dental accounts. This position will lead a team of dedicated account management resources to support the growth, retention, and customer experience for the business, client, and members. Responsible for strategic planning and ensuring staff meets or exceeds goals and initiatives.

Build and maintain relationships with clients and brokers. Accountable for oversight of servicing of accounts, new sales with existing accounts, RFP activities, renewal negotiation, and retention results. This position also partners with Sales, Operations, and staff across the HCSC enterprise to drive consistent practices and procedures that deliver effective account management solutions.

Required Job Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree
  • 12 years of experience in ancillary sales or ancillary account management, or 12 years of experience as a broker consultant in the large group market with ancillary products experience.
  • 7 years leadership or management experience.
  • Experience with budget, planning, goal setting, motivating staff, and addressing/changing shortfalls to successes in meeting sales goals/performance.
  • Valid, current State Insurance License or must obtain license within 3 months of starting in the position.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, group insurance sales strategy, and technical aspects of ancillary and dental insurance.
  • PC skills to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience developing and analyzing data/reports, taking various data points to explain complex information in understandable terms appropriate to audience, experience working with technology groups for data needs, and developing/facilitating C-suite presentations.
  • Verbal and written communications skills to manage and motivate teams, develop sales materials and story boards, and develop relationships and present to executive management and external entities such as key accounts, brokers, etc.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Training and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of financial agreements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

Preferred Job Qualifications:


  • Masters degree.
