As the Regional Market Director your primary responsibility is to lead the charge in understanding, analyzing, and strategically navigating the dynamic landscape of the Marine segment within the region. By focusing on key areas such as market analysis, strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, competitor analysis, and customer satisfaction initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitable growth and maintaining a competitive edge within your respective region. The Regional Market Director will be the driving force behind informed decision-making, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the organization's sustained success in the Marine segment. Your leadership and strategic acumen will be instrumental in achieving and surpassing business objectives within the region.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop an in-depth understanding of all DCLI functions, terminal operations and vendors, becoming the go-to-expert for all aspects of your assigned region
- Partner with regional Operational and Commercial teams daily, ensuring alignment with market strategies prior to implementation and that initiatives are being executed as intended, while also ensuring corporate stakeholders are engaged as required (i.e. IT, Shared Services, Corporate M&R, etc.).
- Conduct weekly meetings with maintenance & repair, logistics and commercial teams, ensuring alignment on tasks required to achieve market objectives.
- Gain a detailed understanding of all financial drivers within the assigned market/region, becoming capable of interpreting financial results, communicating these results to all levels of the organization and collaboratively developing initiatives to improve efficiencies, identify growth opportunities, and maximizing profitability.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance team to develop and implement a robust, data-driven strategy for achieving profitable growth in the Marine segment.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive weekly/bi-weekly updates to key stakeholders, detailing ongoing market conditions within the assigned region, including analysis of market trends, competitive landscape, and economic indicators to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of market and regional trends, with a keen focus on container movements, shifts in chassis demand, BCO (Beneficial Cargo Owner) activity, and other pertinent factors.
- Compile existing market intelligence and conduct ongoing market research, leveraging market insights to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate threats to DCLI’s performance in the region.
- Synthesize internal metrics and external research to create and implement solutions designed to improve DCLI’s overall market position and financial performance
- Analyze key performance indicators to make informed adjustments to the strategy and ensure continuous improvement.
- Participate in industry associations within the assigned region, staying abreast of all issues impacting our industry while building DCLI brand equity with critical stakeholder’s
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field, Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within the Marine or intermodal industry.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing data-driven strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as you will be responsible for conveying complex ideas and strategies in a clear and concise manner.
- Skills in guiding teams, decision-making, and communication at a senior management level are crucial.
- Understanding of business operations, market dynamics, and how a changing macro and micro economic landscape can drive financial performance and business growth.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
