Employment is based on a person’s professional qualifications and competence.Your Role:The Student Advisor plays a crucial role in the organization by serving as the primary contact and support system for students and their families as they prepare for their academic or internship experience overseas.
This entails guiding students through the pre-departure process, providing advice on matters such as student health and safety, credit transfer, visa applications, and housing. Student Advisors are expected to provide timely and accurate advising and provide targeted student follow-up to ensure retention goals are met. Moreover, the Student Advisor collaborates closely with the international staff to ensure that students are well-prepared for their time abroad and serves as a knowledgeable resource for their assigned sites.What You’ll Do:
- Retain students through the pre-departure process and successfully prepare them both logistically and culturally for their program.
- Serve as primary point of contact (via phone, text, and email) for students and families from application completion until they depart for their program.
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of program details and become a subject matter expert on designated sites.
- Monitor student progress to ensure effective communication in tandem with pre-departure deadlines.
- Master the visa and immigration processes for several countries and provide accurate guidance and advice to students.
- Work collaboratively with various departments across the organization, both domestic and international, to create and continue to improve the student's experience and streamline administrative processes.
- Create and maintain site-specific program literature to help improve the pre-departure process
- Assist with emergency phone duties as required
Starting Salary: $48,000What Makes a Great Candidate:
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 years of experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS): Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience using CRM (Customer Relations Management) databases, Salesforce preferred
