Director, Tax
What you will be doing:
This position will have responsibility for coordinating all tax-related matters on behalf of Premier and work in conjunction with the VP, Accounting & Reporting and in partnership with our third party co-sourced tax professionals to manage tax-related matters of Premier, Inc. (excluding payroll taxes). This position will also be highly visible to and interact with Finance senior leadership on tax matters. Key responsibilities will include:
Day-to-day oversight and management of relationship with third party co-sourced tax professionals
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, while working to minimize direct and indirect tax liabilities
Management and review of monthly income tax provision and associated control and reporting requirements
Management of other tax functions including sales and use and SALT
Coordination of quarterly reporting activities with Finance and external auditors
Management and review ofeffective tax rate analysis and tax strategies
Develop accurate cash tax forecast
Assist with tax due diligence and integration related to mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations
This position reports to the VP, Accounting and Reporting and has no direct reports (will have the ability to utilize the third party co-sourced tax professionals). This position will regularly interact with the Finance leadership team and directly supervise the third party co-sourced tax professionals. This position is also expected to be a contributor to various process improvement initiatives within the Corporate Financial Services group, including Workday reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities
External Resource Oversight – 50%
Direct, routine communication with third party co-sourced tax professionals
Manage the budget of the external tax resources
Discuss timing of deliverables and tax strategies
Income Tax – 20%
Management and review of monthly income tax provision
Work with Accounting on SEC filing requirements and disclosures
Ensure proper completion of internal controls in accordance with SOX
Other Tax Functions – 15%
Management of other tax functions including sales and use tax and SALT
Coordinate approval of tax payments with leadership and Work with Finance on tax payments and recording in Workday
Other Duties – 15%
Accurate and timely reporting of cash taxes
Assist with tax due diligence and integration related to M&A
Support quarterly earnings calls and FAQs
Remaining current with changes in relevant statutory, administrative, and judicial authority and guidance to identify and analyze the impact of such changes on the business and financial statements
Involvement with Finance team leadership meetings

Experience:
Multi-entity organizational structures, consolidation accounting and corporate service allocation concepts and processes
Experience with ASC 740 and FIN48 accounting
Internal control implementation, documentation, and maintenance procedures

Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $99,000 - $185,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location.
