Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting an entry level Paralegal to support the Products & Mass Tort Litigation practice group. This position assists lawyers and non-attorney timekeepers with preparation of basic legal documents, routine legal research activities, and other tasks related to one or more of the firm’s legal practice areas under the frequent supervision of lawyers and more experienced paralegals.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Generates revenue by meeting billable hour and other timekeeping expectations set forth by the firm. Proactively secures billable work, which may require working across teams and offices. Maintains current and accurate daily time log; inputs time records into firm's time and accounting systems according to firm and outside counsel guidelines. Accounts for complete workday.2. Follows the ethical requirements set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State in which work is performed.3.

Basic knowledge and application of Federal, State and Local rules. Stays abreast of current rules changes and informs team of same.4. Drafts routine correspondence, memoranda to file, and basic documents using internal templates and/or established forms; correspondence primarily used internally and reviewed by a lawyer or more experienced paralegal.5. Performs routine document reviews, i.e., chronological and alphabetical review of documents. Assists with document organization, and preparation for discovery, trial, administrative, and/or business closings, as applicable and as directed by a lawyer or more experienced paralegal.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

College degree preferred. Paralegal certificate, National Association of Legal Assistants certification or specialty certificate provided by State helpful.Experience: Prior case clerk or similar experience helpful, particularly if experience involved work with documents. Case clerk, paralegal, or general legal experience preferred.Other Minimum Qualifications: Basic knowledge and application of Federal, State and Local rules. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic technological and research skills necessary to pull requested documents from online resources required; familiarity with legal technology and computer databases preferred.

Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, and present a positive, professional image with colleagues, professional staff, and vendors. Ability to work overtime or travel, as needed, on short notice essential. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed for transcription, extensive reading and input (typing) of information into computer.

Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory.
