Collections Specialist
Job Description
*This is a temporary position with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent position
Job Summary
As a Collections Specialist, you will monitor the companies Accounts Receivable ledger to identify overdue accounts. You will interact with customers daily by phone and email attempting to collect outstanding balances while providing regular status updates of unpaid accounts.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain weekly aging reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments.
- Make high volume of collection calls and email communications for past due accounts.
- Investigate Salesforce account history to support collection efforts.
- Communication of payment issues to cash operations for further reconciliation
- Manage the timeline of suspensions and cancellations for non-payment.
- Update account records with collection activity notes and outreach attempts
- Process client payments, apply outstanding credits and process refunds.
- Collaborate with sales and service departments to resolve past due accounts.
- Provide support with the Armatic payment processing system, both internally and customer facing.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical problem-solving skills
- Prior experience with high volume collection efforts preferred
- Ability of gaining customer loyalty through relationship building and persuasive communication skills
- Critical thinker with a risk-based approach mindset and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships across multiple company departments
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with SageIntacct and Salesforce are a plus
- Merchant credit card billing experience preferred
Physical/Mental Requirements for the Job:
- Prolonged periods of sitting
- May be requested to work overtime
- Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds
- Certain management positions might be required to occasional travel
