Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time Flight Manual Writer at a corporate partner’s facility in Cincinnati, OH. The primary function of this role is creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation related to aircraft operation and flight procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, pilots, and quality assurance teams to ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities include:
- Develop, write, and edit flight manuals and other technical documents for aircraft operation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including S1000D, to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions.
- Conduct analysis for flight-related tasks such as emergency procedures, normal operations, and system malfunction responses.
- Incorporate Design Engineering Data, including drawings, 3D models, and digital aircraft information, into flight manuals to provide comprehensive instructions for flight and operation.
- Create and maintain Aircraft Data Sheets (ADS) to provide detailed information on the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of aircraft systems.
- Develop Authorized Flight Instructions (AFI) to guide pilots in performing authorized procedures on aircraft, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and pilots to gather necessary information for flight manuals, including input on flight procedures, emergency techniques, and troubleshooting steps.
- Review and update existing flight manuals, ADS, and AFI to ensure accuracy and compliance with changes in equipment, procedures, and regulations.
- Work with quality assurance teams to ensure all flight manuals and related documents meet quality standards.
- Coordinate with training teams to develop training materials based on flight manuals and other technical documents.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology, flight procedures, and documentation.
- Ensure all flight manuals and related documents comply with industry standards and regulations, including but not limited to FAA Regulations, ICAO Standards, OEM Specifications, and Military Standards and Specifications.

Basic Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft operation or related fields. Will consider 6 years with Bachelor’s Degree.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including FAA Regulations, ICAO Standards, OEM Specifications, and Military Standards and Specifications.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, and emergency techniques.
- Experience in conducting analysis for flight-related tasks.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in writing flight manuals or related technical documentation, with knowledge of S1000D principles and guidelines.
- Experience in interpreting and incorporating Design Engineering Data, including drawings, 3D models, and digital aircraft information, into flight manuals.
- Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing.
- Familiarity with creating and maintaining Aircraft Data Sheets (ADS) and Authorized Flight Instructions (AFI).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent knowledge and demonstrated work experience using the Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, Power Point plus Adobe Acrobat.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional travel to various facilities for on-site observation and data collection. The Flight Manual Writer may also need to work in a hangar or cockpit environment on occasion to gain hands-on experience with the aircraft systems they are documenting.
