Job Summary:
The Compensation Program Manager supports the design and implementation of compensation policies and programs. This role is responsible for developing compensation programs, monitoring their effectiveness and recommending adjustments as necessary to ensure competitive, fair compensation aligned with our goals and values. This individual will conduct compensation surveys and analyses, position evaluations, and partner with HR Business Partners to recommend compensation ranges for new roles, internal moves and as part of our performance review cycle. The Compensation Program Manager will partner closely with the HR Leaders on all aspects of HR and work closely with the VP of Compensation, CHRO and the CFO on the various components of Mercer’s compensation offerings.
Essential Job Functions will include:
- Reviewing and further defining Mercer’s compensation philosophy and approach including pay equity
- Developing salary, bonus, equity, and other incentive plans for all levels of employees
- Conducting market research and benchmarking to determine the appropriate pay levels and ranges for different positions and locations
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding compensation practices
- Collaborating with other HR functions and business leaders to support talent acquisition, retention, performance management, diversity and employee engagement initiatives
- Analyzing compensation data and trends to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of compensation programs and policies
- Managing the compensation planning aspect of the Performance Review and Compensation Planning program
- Communicating and educating employees and managers on compensation programs and policies
- Working collaboratively with HR ops and payroll on minimum wage and salary thresholds per state and federal regulations
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Certification from a professional organization such as the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in compensation or human resources management
- Strong knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and trends
- High level of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in using various software tools such as Excel, HRIS, payroll systems, etc.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across the organization
- Experience in Professional Services or Wealth Management is a plus
Work Schedule:
This professional role requires availability during standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM. At times, the role may have early or late hours to meet business tasks and deadlines for external and internal client needs.
Working Conditions:
This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace which is free of interruptions. Whether position is in a dedicated office space or home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements. Routinely sitting and standing for periods of time. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs. Travel assumed up to 25% of the time.
