The primary objective is to provide an outstanding service experience to our clients, both internal and external, in relation to submeter operations. The Field Service Technician holds the responsibility of diagnosing, installing, repairing, and maintaining utility meter systems in multi-family apartment complexes and other real estate sites. This role functions in a capacity where the Technician possesses the capability to conduct research, analyze data, and fulfill work orders using both computer and manual methods with minimal supervision. Field service technician will maintain a high level of professionalism and will utilize their skills and talent to forge strong, collaborative partnerships both internally and externally.
This position requires you to be based in the San Diego area, it is work from home with approximately 25-30% travel within the region.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To guarantee the best performance and quality, conduct the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of AMR equipment (Tehama, Inovonics, Next Century, Aclara, and Cerenti) in the field. Additionally, address any network-related issues, including routers and phone lines.
- Paying close attention to detail and ensuring accuracy are vital when entering meter data into the project management software [MOSS].
- Assess the plumbing, electrical, and gas requirements and implement the necessary measures for installing the equipment.
- Perform daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment in accordance with pre-established field guidelines, while demonstrating the capability to work autonomously and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Quickly escalate technical issues to more senior level technician(s) to help diagnose errors or technical problems prior to leaving the property to resolve customers’ issue.
- Visit construction sites and retrofit properties to perform a site evaluation (survey) to support and validate the installation of automated metering systems, IoT devices and access control systems.
- Manage, implement and/or perform technical product support for equipment that has been installed and the ability to organize data into report formats for internal and external clients.
- Establish and build positive customer relationships and assure complete customer satisfaction by adherence to the following: prompt onsite arrival time, technical expertise, knowledge of customer environment, professionalism
- Collect any necessary due diligence from the client, including prior biller information and submeter information (typically needed for a retrofit project)

- Proficient expertise in recognizing and resolving problems encountered with the Tehama, Inovonics, Next Century, Aclara, and Cerenti metering systems.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, and Outlook), TCP/IP, router - networking, RF Knowledge, and electrical troubleshooting with the ability to read low voltage wiring diagrams and controls flow diagrams.
- General knowledge of construction, plumbing and electrical work - ideally submetering systems and or use of equipment is beneficial.
- Intermediate technical knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, AHU’s, VAV’s, boilers, chillers and Electrical Smart Grid Panel Board Systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or its equivalent, along with at least 5 years of previous work experience, or a post-secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior work experience (a bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred).
- 5 years of field technical and plumbing work experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- May require working in all-weather environments including rain, snow, extreme cold, or high heat.
- This position necessitates engaging in physical activities such as walking, kneeling, twisting, turning, stooping, reaching, bending, and climbing up a 10-foot ladder for a prolonged duration.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time (not local - hotel stay).
- Ability to drive without any restrictions (night, extended periods of time).
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Remote position w/expected availability between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. within respective time zone.
