Job Summary:
As an Avionics technician, you will be instrumental in troubleshooting and repairing avionics systems and controls. Your role will include performing operational and functional checks during heavy checks, return to service, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoots and repairs all avionics equipment and electrical systems on aircraft.• Communicates with department manager or crew chief on any problems or repairs.• Ensure all work performed is inspected by a repair station inspector.• Prepares various documents for record keeping purposes as required by company policies, FAA approved repair station and quality control manuals, all FAA regulations, OEM aircraft manufacturer manuals, etc.• Learns, understands, and follows the company work order and parts requisition process as written.• Maintains a clean, neat, and efficient work area.• Repairs and calibrates shop equipment as assigned.•
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent. • 3+ year's experience in aviation or aerospace industry.• A&P/ FCC License preferred. • Experience working on and troubleshooting aircraft avionics and airframe systems.• Knowledge and understanding of FARs 43, 91, 145.• Experience working with and repairing the following aircraft systems: Autopilots, Flight Management Systems, Navigation and Communication Systems, EFIS, Aircraft Electrical Systems, Lighting, Pitot and Static Systems, ADS-b, Transponders, HF/VHF/ACARS, etc.
Skills and Abilities:
• Willingness to work on a team with both experienced technicians and mentor junior technicians with a calm demeanor.• Ability to communicate well in straightforward situations.• Organizational skills and attention to detail• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.• Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures, wiring manuals and schematics, and governmental regulations.• Ability to write reports, complete paperwork.• Excellent mechanical aptitude and a desire to work.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for up to 4-8 hours.• The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
