We’re seeking an experienced, self-motivated, passionate, highly productive Engineering Manager to join the NantHealth Engineering Team in Belfast.
As an Engineering Manager, you will work collaboratively across multiple departments and multiple sites, being a strong quality advocate and having a proven ability to initiate innovative ideas and concepts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all Engineers.As an Engineering Manager you will also lead and manage software engineers responsible for the development and testing of NantHealth products and take responsibility for their career development. Strong technical skills are a requirement coupled with an innovative approach regarding maximization of quality.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Provide quality leadership to cross-functional engineering teams, mentoring, guidance to coach, support and recruitment
- Ensure the team execute in line with NantHealth’s software development processes and enables team compliance with internal standards
- Strategically identify new tools, processes, and techniques for increasing quality and eliminating waste and work closely with other leaders across departments to gain buy-in and implement them; share and spread knowledge of trends and innovations
- Provide technical leadership while instilling department standards and generally accepted architectural qualities
- Provide thought leadership with respect to the role of NantHealth’s software engineers in the lean development methodology; remove obstacles and foster continuous improvement and encourage the team to foster creative thinking
- Influence the options for 'building in' testability during design and development phases
- Ensure features achieve the desired level of functional flow and quality - including reliability, security, and performance
- Clarify how features should work to eliminate ambiguous requirements
- Foster clear and effective communication, promoting seamless collaboration, and actively steering the achievement of technical milestones
- Coordinate harmoniously with various NantHealth groups to ensure synchronized activities and shared success
- Maintain an environment of strong engineering leadership implementing best practices with a continued focus on innovation
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 8+ years software engineering experience in addition to a minimum of 3 years of software management/leadership experience
- 5+ years’ experience in implementing application and programs developed in C# .NET or Java, SQL Server or Oracle, JavaScript Frameworks
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an Agile/Lean environment
- Technical leader and coach with awareness of the applicability of modern technologies
- Demonstrable experience in overall architecture and software design for products and solutions
- Advanced understanding and experience working in a Lean or Agile environment, continuous integration/continuous deployment, and other Dev Ops best practices
- Demonstrable experience with web application development
- Demonstrable experience with distributed environments
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with working in a Cloud Environment (e.g., Azure)
- Experience with software quality assurance tools and processes, including test automation tools/techniques/frameworks
- Strong understanding of Behavior/Test Driven development
- Previous experience with UI technologies and frameworks such as JavaScript, Angular, Vue.js
- Containerization frameworks experience such as Docker, Kubernetes
- Exposure to database development

The salary range for remote Belfast-based applicants for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
- £70000 - £80,000 base salary, plus bonus potential.
