Position Overview:
The Lab Coordinator Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the logistic and administrative responsibilities of the lab department and collaborating with internal and external departments, phlebotomists, and lab processing facilities. This position works with the Lab Coordinators to evaluate the current process for opportunities to improve, provide impeccable customer service, create departmental metrics, and encourage a positive team-centric environment. We are looking for an experienced and reliable professional with proven skills in leadership, project management, and ability to build positive relationships with staff, vendors, and patients.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with a lab and phlebotomy environment, have a supervisory background, and an internal desire to lead and build up a team and department within an organization that is innovation-driven and patient-centered.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee day to day administrative and logistical functions of the lab department. Be able and willing to step in and support team members as needed.
- Must be able to make quick and accurate decisions to handle patient issues with the utmost care.
- Collaboration with internal and external departments, lab vendors, lab processing facilities, and phlebotomists. Have an in-depth understanding of every lab test and its requirements, processing, and billing.
- Responsible for leading the team with integrity and professionalism while consistently upholding company standards and goals.
- Develop the lab department and team members for anticipated future growth of the company.
- Participate in meetings, interviewing, hiring, training, developing, coaching, evaluating, conflict resolution and holding team members accountable.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a business or healthcare related field
- 2+ years of relevant leadership experience
- Must have the ability to work closely and effectively with others in a team-oriented environment
- Must have exceptional communication skills and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced working environment with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Demonstrate leadership through follow-through, detail orientation, logistic design, consistent communication, effective listening, and positive relationships
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills through humility, teamwork, and a desire to realize the potential of employees and support growth
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare
- Phlebotomy experience and/or general understanding of insurances a plus
- Understanding of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and OSHA requirements
