From plant genetics to the cannabis retail experience under the Mission Dispensary brand, 4Front’s team applies expertise across the entire cannabis value chain.The HR Generalist will manage daily functions of the Human Resources department for 4Front Ventures IL site locations by supporting internal employee relations, training/development initiatives, HRIS record management, benefits enrollment, talent management programs, and onboarding/offboarding support of colleagues. As the subject matter expert for all HR related items the Human Resources Generalist will act as the liaison between management and internal colleagues to ensure compliance with State and Federal employment law and regulations managed through the implantation of performance management initiatives and internal investigation. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the HR Generalist will build and maintain strong internal and cross-functional relationships to support overall company initiatives.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders
- Partner with key site managers to support employee relations and performance management
- Maintain employee visibility through site visits and employee interaction
- Lead succession planning discussion and provide sound insight of skill gap analysis
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal employment law and regulations
- Conduct internal investigations pertaining to personnel and performance concerns
- Support audits to ensure accuracy of all data/reporting and provide dashboards
- Maintain employee files and various electronic records in HRIS
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
- Partner with management on high-risk separations of employment
- Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
- Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, supporting benefits initiatives and organizing team building activities
- Partner with key players to execute learning and development programs to maximize workforce productivity
- Remain informed and up to date on various industry and marketplace trends
- Identify new opportunities for HR to add value to the business
- Support other HR initiatives and projects as assigned to continue to support overall company goals and initiatives
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience in either a retail or manufacturing environment
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong internal and cross- functional relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, TEAMs, etc.)
- Prior Cannabis Industry Experience (preferred)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Active and valid government issued photo identification
- 21 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- BA degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Dispensing Organization Agent Identification Card (obtained upon hire) in accordance with State law.

Working Conditions
- Work involves physical exertion such as bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), kneeling, squatting, pivoting, and carrying items/ product on a regular basis. Employees will be required to stand for extended periods and may need to climb ladders or operate equipment. The warehouse environment may be subject to hot and cold temperatures, and ventilation may not be available in all areas. The warehouse environment may be subject to elevated noise volumes due to equipment, machinery, and the movement of goods.The warehouse may be subject to dirt, dust, cleaning solutions, chemicals, and debris from the handling of goods. The warehouse may have safety hazards such as slippery floors, moving equipment, and the presence of hazardous materials. You will need to follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment.
