Full-timeDescriptionThe duties of the laboratory technician involve performing tasks related to the quality control procedures that control processing and involves interpretation of specifications and procedures which define material and processing requirements. Also supporting process development and investigate analysis through lab applications of SEM, white light microscope review titrations for wet chem analysis.
- Sectioning, mounting, polishing, and evaluating metallurgical samples.
- Review lab results against internal/external specification(s) and accept or reject material based on customer requirements.
- Working knowledge of SEM and EDS theory, operation, and analysis.
- Understand ICP-OES principles, practice, and analysis, including working knowledge and theory.
- Perform process control analyses per written procedure(s) on coating, heat treat, brazing, plating, Fluoride Ion Cleaning, and stripping solutions, powders, metals, and other materials for production and development.
- Maintain all records in accordance with department procedures.
- Knowledge of high temperature diffusion coatings and plasma spray.
Requirements
- Requires familiarity with metallurgical or chemical laboratory environment. Direct work experience or applicable technology degree preferred but not required. Completion of college level physics and chemistry required.
- Must possess the knowledge and communication skills necessary for performing interdepartmental contact and supplier contact.
- Must be capable of reading and interpreting specifications, blueprints, and procedures.
- Must be able to communicate through written instructions and correspondence, including basic lab reports.
- Must be computer literate for documenting results and creating lab reports.
- Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge helpful.
- Applicable degree preferred, but 5+ years in relevant industry is acceptable.
- Prior Chemical/Metallurgical Aerospace industry experience (5+ years).
