Director of Engineering
The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading all engineering activities within the TurbineAero Repair Station in Chandler AZ. TurbineAero Repair specializes in Auxiliary Power Unit and accessories repairs and supports customers globally. The engineering leader reports into the VP/GM and is a key role in driving the growth and financial performance of the business. The successful candidate must possess a strong technical competency with an excellent track record of accomplishment and will have a keen understanding of engineering fundamentals and FAA FAR 145 repair station requirements.
The successful candidate must also have superior communication, and promote collaboration, teamwork, and leadership.
Director of Engineering Duties:
- Lead the overhaul engineering team driving the most efficient APU and component workscopes ensuring compliance with FAA rules, regulations and customer requirements.
- Work directly with the FAA and the TurbineAero quality organization to develop and Airworthiness Review Board process.
- Lead minor repair, DER and PMA development efforts across the site and our supplier base and gaining FAA and customer approval for each project.
- Develop and expand our APU and LRU repair capabilities
- Manage engineering projects and longer-term goals for schedule and budgetary adherence as well as technical quality of execution.
- Development of the engineering department by cross-training, professional/technical training.
- Develop procedures/standards and or best practices for engineering processes such as Work instruction ‘Router’ creation and revisions, ARB dispositioning, NPI/LPRI (Legacy Part Re-Introduction). RFPs/RFQs.
- Engineering Project Management using phase gate methodology.
- Interviewing/Hiring for potential skills/capabilities gap or to increase resources/capabilities as justified by new business awards.
Requirements
Director of Engineering Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (or equivalent technical and Engineering experience) and 15 years technical experience.
- Ten years of experience in a FAA FAR 145 repair station environments.
- Experienced in following aerospace specifications and processes.
- Experience with Repair Station Technical Data such as Component Repair Manuals, IRMs, Maintenance Planning guides, Standard Practice Manuals, and Engineering Drawings.
- Experience in Gas Turbine and/or LRU repair station practices
- Project management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and various Engineering computer applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Solidworks, 2D AutoCAD (limited proficiency), etc.
- Preferred experience with review, development, substantiation, and compliance to FAA-DER Major Repair EAs/PMAs.
- FAA DER authorization preferred.
