For more information, visit www.greenlightbio.com.Position summary:This position provides environmental health and safety (EHS) oversight, guidance, and leadership for the GreenLight Biosciences manufacturing, laboratory, and office facilities in Rochester, New York.
This role will be responsible for monitoring, auditing, consulting and maintaining a proactive safety culture program to support company safety goals and objectives.The ideal candidate will bring a strong background leading EHS programs across a multi-site, multidisciplinary organization. A solid background in manufacturing safety practices and regulations is required. This position is highly collaborative and requires excellent communication skills, the ability to lead by influence, and proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:· Cultivate a strong and robust safety culture that reflects the standards and values of the company.· Act as site subject matter expert for EHS including procedures, guidelines, and standards.· Administrate and maintain company safety policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations.· Conduct and manage safety training programs for the Rochester sites.· Ensure proper handling, use and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with local/state public health and state or federal level environmental protection agency requirements as applicable.· Responsible for obtaining and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental permits· Perform and lead safety audits, risk assessments, Process Hazard Analysis, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and ergonomic assessments.· Supports the Capital Project Team in ensuring safe execution of construction, commissioning, and start-up activities working with contractors and internal GreenLight resources.· Ensure proper record keeping and reporting of required metrics for OSHA compliance.· Participate/lead local safety committee and review all pending safety or environmental incidences/near-misses/concerns/risks and develop mitigation plans accordingly.· Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainable results across site EHS projects and programs.· Utilize document management system to manage training records, safety SOPs, and incident reporting.· Applies Management of Change practices to ensure that the environmental, health, and safety risks are carefully evaluated and controlled prior to implementing changes· Facilitate development and review of site safety procedures and practices and ensure alignment with company EHS policies and standards.· Drive post-incident review and analysis using standard methodologies such as Five-Why or Root Cause Failure Analysis to develop corrective/preventative actions and capture learnings.· Develop Site Strategy in meeting company sustainability initiativesQualifications:· 5+ years working in an applicable role.· Hands-on experience working in a manufacturing setting is required.· 4-year degree or equivalent experience required.· Preferred safety designations (OSHA 30/501, Certified Safety Professional, ISO 45001, Industrial Hygiene Certification).· Experience with obtaining and maintaining environmental permits.· High-energy, flexible self-starter approach and the ability to engage the entire team in putting safety first.· Ability to support and drive a safe work culture through felt leadership, positive influence, and leading by example.· Highly motivated with high quality standards for one’s own work, strong communication skills, and an absolute commitment to team success.· Possess a team-oriented mindset with proven abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders· Role is based in Rochester, New York and is a full-time onsite positionGreenlight Biosciences Inc.
