Position Summary
The General Manager, Outpatient and Market Expansion will lead a critical part of the Karius future. Building on strong adoption in hospitals, this leader will facilitate and drive the strategy for expanding adoption of the Karius Test into the Outpatient Market. This includes all investment decisions around key strategy and tactics, market positioning, market access, advocacy and government affairs.

Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the General Manager, Outpatient Strategy and Market Expansion is responsible for preparing Karius to successfully enter the outpatient setting which will empower clinicians to diagnose causes of infectious disease with speed and precision resulting in optimized treatment, improved outcomes, and fewer hospitalizations. This person will be responsible for assessing the outpatient market potential, navigating reimbursement pathways, developing strategy, tactics, and budget to exceed outpatient performance expectations. Due to the scope of the role, it is important this person has broad molecular diagnostic experience across multiple functions with a proven track record of success in each function.• Assess outpatient market opportunity through understanding of current infectious disease treatment pathways, guidelines and protocols with various HCP specialties and healthcare systems that treat target patient populations.• Conduct market research to determine product positioning, service level requirements, and volume potential that will position the product for accelerated adoption at launch. • Develop HCP, KOL and Societal advisory partners to provide ongoing feedback relative to critical decisions important to the outpatient launch. Inform forecast based on market understanding, product positioning, and reimbursement progress. • Execute the MolDx (Medicare) reimbursement plan to secure a Local Coverage Decision (LCD) • Develop strategy to leverage the MolDx LCD to expand coverage to Medicare Advantage, Commercial, and eventually Medicaid lives. • Conduct government affairs work to ensure policies support equitable access to the Karius Test, including ensuring the Karius Test will be billed as Fee-For-Service in the outpatient setting (not bundled)• Develop pricing strategy that maintains financial performance across outpatient settings. • Hire personnel, develop system infrastructure, and processes to begin filing and receiving timely reimbursement from third party payers and managing patient out of pocket expenses. • Develop outpatient end-to-end user experience journey and requirements that minimize ease of use barriers for target outpatient customers to maximize revenue contribution. Create the strategy, tactical plan, and budget to effectively launch the Karius Test on-time into the outpatient market. • Partner with commercial and clinical leaders to develop a sales, marketing, and evidence/guideline plan that enables the team to maximize inpatient and outpatient revenue. • Cultivate relationships and trust with departmental stakeholders that are critical to the development and execution of the outpatient plan. • Provide timely updates to executives, Board of Directors, and employees as necessary.

Physical Requirements
Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office, lab or clinical environment.
Position Requirements and Personal Qualifications
• BA or BS degree required. MBA preferred.• 15+ years of experience in Life Sciences, Molecular Diagnostics, and/or Biotechnology.• 10+ years experience in commercial/sales.7+ years of people management experience.• Previous P&L accountability for a product or business unit.• Track record of successful product launches and market expansion initiatives.• Leadership experience in sales, marketing, payer access, revenue cycle, and customer success.• Ability to partner with lab operations, clinical development, R&D, Finance, HR, Informatics, & quality teams to develop and execute an aligned plan.• Successful track record of navigating MolDx LCD and tech assessment process.• Experience developing positive medical policy, establishing fair market rates, and contracts with third party payers.• Experience creating evidence development plans with clinical teams to maximize product adoption in existing and new markets through KOL relationships and proven guideline change based on evidence.• Strong communication skills with experience communicating with executives, the Board of Directors, investors, KOLs, and customers.• Strong financial business acumen and analytical skills. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage projects, budgets, multitask, and prioritize tasks efficiently.• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
