About the role:
As a Software Engineer on the Borrower Activation Team at January, you'll contribute significantly to the evolution of our software from its initial version, which established product-market fit, to a sophisticated and user-centric version 2.0. Your responsibilities will include:
- UI that empowers our borrowers: Dealing with debt is stressful, but using our site should not be. You’ll contribute to our Borrower Portal to improve performance, reduce friction, and inform borrowers. Our aim is to empower borrowers to effortlessly make the best decisions for their particular situation.
- Tailored experiences for unique individuals: Design personalized settlement solutions and adaptable payment plans tailored to individual borrower needs. Anticipate what information a borrower might want or need, and proactively provide it to them. This requires innovative problem-solving to create impactful and user-friendly financial relief efforts.
- Clean, reliable payments infrastructure: It’s crucial that our payments infrastructure is highly reliable. Flex your architectural skills to help our payments systems continue to operate seamlessly, and raise alarms when issues arise.

- 2-5 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A passion for collaboration and proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Full-stack experience is a plus.

We offer transparent and equitable compensation packages to all existing and future January team members.Our compensation range for this role is $125,000 to $160,000. We determine the final package by considering experience, applicable education and training, and relevant skills derived throughout our interview process.This role also includes a competitive equity package, giving you a chance to feel true ownership of your work.January prioritizes the safety and well-being of our team members and, as such, requires all employees who work from or visit a January office to have proof of COVID-19 vaccination or provide a valid medical or religious exemption.
