WHAT YOUR FIRST YEAR WILL LOOK LIKE
New technicians are typically assigned to our Central Operations team, which covers managing all work before and after the machining process. Central Operations has different 5 different stations. You will be learn one of them through on the job training :- Material Receiving & Prep: receive and transact raw metal; cut to size using an automated bandsaw and basic metrology tools- Tool Building: assemble and dis-assemble machine tools, work with pre-setters and ensure the correct angles and measurements- Part-Marking: use different machines and techniques (laser, epoxy, ink) to serialize machined parts- Shipping & Receiving: send out parts and manage visual inspection of parts back from outside processing- Rework: employ manual techniques to perform small modifications on parts so that they fit customer requirementsAt the same time, we train technicians off the job on our in-house metrology training, which unlocks the ability to work in our quality department.
This course teaches usage of basic hand tools, aerospace blueprint interpretation, and visual inspection basics. Together with performing in a station, this combo will prepare you for a career in our fast-paced and rigorous production environment.The fast-growing nature of our business mandates that new technicians be assigned to the most in demand area of the company. We anticipate that most of our technician demand for the upcoming year will be concentrated in our Quality Operations department. We reserve the right to staff new technicians directly in Quality Operations.Success for your first year hinges on your ability to own your station, demonstrate proactiveness and a sense of urgency when dealing with issues, and learn how to communicate with other technicians, programmers, and engineers. We also expect high performing technicians to train at their station as a preparation for additional leadership challenges.We do not guarantee rotation to other areas of the factory but we are fast growing and expect to provide significant opportunities to high performing technicians that have proven their ability to be technical and cultural leaders in their first year.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Pre/post machining operations: shipping, receiving, packing, part mark, cut stock, stamping, tool building, measurement, and dis-assembly
- Machining: operate machinery under engineer and programmer guidance
- Quality inspections: operate CMM and perform manual inspections
- Shop tasks: own housekeeping, checklists, and perform cleaning duties as directed
Requirements
- Willingness to learn precision inspection techniques and follow rigid training procedures
- Ability to perform repetitive measurements
- Ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted
- Ability to work the 1st shift: 7:30 AM - 4:PM PM, Monday - Friday
Compensation
- Every technician starts at $20 hourly, regardless of experience.
