Darkhive is making robotics accessible. We are a startup focused on the application of robotics to the public safety and defense community. Our approach to accessibility is built on three pillars: low-cost, ease-of-use, and open interface design to enable extensibility by third parties.Darkhive is creating an autonomy software stack that will enable military and public safety users to intuitively interact with robotics platforms to understand their common environment and make decisions when it matters most.
In addition to our core software suite, Darkhive is creating a palm-sized, autonomous drone optimized to demonstrate the capabilities of our software stack. The integrated software and hardware solution are key to realizing the product's full potential in our target markets.
The Role:
We are seeking experienced mobile developers with an understanding of building and running Machine Learning frameworks on Android for voice processing or working with robotics systems. You will create and maintain core user interface software that Darkhive customers use to pilot and interact with our platforms, particularly through voice-based interfaces. Ideally you can walk between traditional mobile development activities while also understanding how to optimize ML models on Android. You will own architecture and user interfaces that infer a pilot's intent in under 250 milliseconds and turn them into actionable commands.Candidates with ATAK experience are desired.

Requirements
You bring:
- 7+ years of experience
- Strong Android development experience with both Java and Kotlin
- 5+ years of experience with ATAK
- Example projects you can point to demonstrate Android development and performance ML execution on edge devices
- Excellent build tool skills (Gradle) and understanding of modern, robust software development
- BS in Computer Science, or a related technical field
Bonus Qualifications:
- Python experience for standing-up training pipelines
- C/C++ experience to aid in performance on mobile
- Expertise in Mavlink and Drones
- Expertise in Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, or Speaker Recognition
- Expertise in Mobile Machine Vision
- Experience with drone systems and flight control, particularly on small uncrewed aerial systems
- An active security clearance (this is not a requirement for the position)
- MS in Computer Science, or a related technical field
