What does the role look like?
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for working on our design system, focusing on creating accessible components, refining micro-interactions, adding animations, and polishing the general UI. You will work closely with designers, primarily using Figma, to ensure the design system is implemented effectively. While you'll be building on top of our existing design system, Frosted UI, having a good design sense is a nice-to-have. Your workflow will involve receiving design directions or UI kits from designers, then building and proposing solutions if certain elements can't be implemented as designed.
Freestyling and contributing new ideas will be encouraged, especially when you have innovative solutions or improvements. In addition, you'll be working on projects with other members of the engineering team; you will be responsible for completing the UI / visual aspect of the project while other engineers will focus on the functionality. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the design phase, collaborating with designers to refine and ideate on initial concepts. This collaborative approach helps in arriving at a refined product that balances both functionality and aesthetics. Additionally, experience with building UI libraries or general JavaScript proficiency will be advantageous, allowing you to abstract and create reusable components.
