THE OPPORTUNITY: Copywriter (Freelance)

Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports remote work for eligible roles. This role is fully remote.This is a contract position, part time hours for 1-2 months with potential for extension.Birdy Grey is looking for a Copywriter to join our team of creatives who are constantly seeking ways to reach our customers more effectively and impactfully. You will report into the Content Director and will partner with our Ecommerce, Brand, and Marketing teams while also working cross-functionally with Merch & Planning and Ops teams.
In this role, you will lead the conceptualization, development, and execution of all digital content for our website and new products, social media, launch campaigns, and email marketing among others. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about brand identity, storytelling, and is brimming with ideas to bring to the table.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for developing copy that reflect the brand’s personality, voice, and positioning—whether that’s a bridal trend for a blog post or a product description for bachelorette party swag.
- Create, copy edit, and proofread website PDP and collection page copy to ensure accurate spelling, grammar, formatting, and clarity.
- Check all assets to ensure accurate product copy while working cross-functionally with PD.
- Draft weekly blog posts for The Birdy Edit in line with SEO best practices.
- In collaboration with the Content Director, ideate content for Birdy Grey’s social platforms including Instagram and TikTok.
- Develop messaging for all new 360 product launch campaigns and key initiatives, including copywriting and editing.
- Vary language and tone of messages based on product, medium, target audience and desired consumer behavior.
- Provide expertise to all marketing, brand, and business partners to ensure that messaging meets project and business objectives.
- Work with marketing and merchandising to craft copy for promotional, seasonal and marketing emails and SMS.
- Create pithy, compelling copy for search ads and sponsored ads while working closely with the Digital Marketing team.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 4+ years copywriting experience in editorial, fashion, bridal, ecommerce, retail, or advertising.
- Passion for copywriting, language, user experience, creative direction, and editorial storytelling.
- Experience with digital writing and crafting SEO-friendly website copy.
- Proficient in both short- and long-form copywriting (must have writing clips to show both forms).
- Strong ability to multitask, hyper organized, and can work efficiently without sacrificing attention to detail.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a diligent eye for detail, language, flow, and grammar.
- Deep understanding of customers' needs, the “why” of a product, and the competitive landscape.
- Professional level of computer competency, proficiency with Word, Google Suite, experience with database tools, and knowledge of Internet technology.
- Up-to-date knowledge of retail, marketing, and fashion editorial trends.

- Start-up and DTC experience are a plus!
- Outstanding skills with the nuances of social media writing, including the use of hashtags, emojis and acronyms.
- Social-savvy with an eye for social content trends.
- Passionate about the bridal industry and fashion.
