IllFonic is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join the team. As a Senior AI Engineer, you work in large code based engines like Unreal Engine with a focus on AI Systems. The role requires developing AI features for multiple projects and mentoring other programmers. The job requires 4+ years experience as an AI Engineer, a strong understanding of writing portable C++ code and source control. Additionally, your unique knowledge of AI structures and passion for learning is hugely beneficial to the company.

Founded in 2007, IllFonic (IllFonic, LLC) is an independent video game development and publishing company with studios in Lakewood, Colorado and Tacoma, Washington. Our staff is composed of video game, music, and technology veterans redefining how games are made and marketed. Current and post titles / collaborations include Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Arcadegeddon, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th: The Game, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Evolve, Armored Warfare, and Nexuiz.
Responsibilities
- Debug any engine, gameplay or software issues that may arise
- Implemented designed gameplay features
- Implementing or extending engine features
- Performing code reviews
- Mentor other programmers to improve overall quality of code
- Work with multiple projects and ensure core systems remain portable
- Implement AI systems to better facilitate design’s plans
- Plan future improvements for AI to ensure future games state relevant to players
- Take the initiative to identify, prioritize, call-out, and suggest solutions to problems both big and small.
- Regularly playtest builds and provide professional feedback to the team on how to improve our games.
- Share your thoughts about how to make the company a better place to work, improve the creative process, and help deliver better games.
Requirements
- 4+ years in the video game industry, specifically with AI Engineering experience and at least 2 shipped titles
- Strong experience with source control
- Write fluent portable C++ code
- Experience with modern game platforms (PC, Xbox, PS, Switch)
- Experience with profiling and optimization techniques
- Experience working on multiplayer games
- Familiarity with a wide range of gameplay systems including AI, physics, networking and rendering
- Strict use of code names and complete confidentiality of project information for as long as its required
