THE OPPORTUNITY: Operations Director
REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Operations
LOCATION:
US - Remote
Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports remote work for eligible roles. We ask that all employees travel to either office once a quarter.We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to own and manage all aspects of operation functions including but not limited to fulfillment (warehouse and supplier management, product activation, and inventory) & logistics (inbound freight, outbound transportation, and return logistics). This role will be responsible for executing strategic initiatives, managing warehouse fulfillment as well as end-to-end logistics & transportation, and collaborating cross-functionally with all Birdy Grey teams.
We’re looking for a highly analytical executor and a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in warehouse management, international & domestic freight, small parcel shipping and a passion for evolving efficient processes.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead operation functions, including logistics & fulfillment operations, inventory management, and warehousing. Oversee our Operations Team of 4.
- Work with Sr. director of ops & leadership team to implement and influence best practices, and drive strategic initiatives to finish line
- Along with Sr. Director of Ops & COO, direct our 3PL and logistics' partnerships, support business expansion, mitigate risks, source new partners and negotiate contracts
- Manage logistics partners including but not limited to freight forwarders, shipping carriers (international and domestic), bulk shipment logistics (recycle, donation…etc) & reverse logistics partner
- Continuous efforts on service and cost evaluation and further extract value from our logistics & fulfillment partners
- Produce and distribute key benchmark reports on carriage, shipping, reverse logistics, costing reports, including exception management, troubleshooting and resolving issues
- To accommodate business expansion, travel to 3PL warehouse and supply chain partners 2-3 times per year may be required.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE:
QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree required
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of warehousing, fulfillment & logistics/transportation experience ideally in DTC or eCommerce
- Experience with large data sets and complex Excel spreadsheets with significant detail
- Knowledge of ERP, Excel, Business Intelligence platforms, and any other relevant Supply Chain / Logistics Tools
- Strong interpersonal skills; capable of building relationships with many internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Someone who feels a tremendous sense of responsibility and commitment in getting projects across the finish line – on-time, on-quality, on-budget, all while enabling project participants to be effective and motivated
- Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative to lead projects
- Resourceful and scrappy - can figure out solutions to novel problems independently
- Proactive problem solver, able to troubleshoot and/or escalate issues effectively
