Job Description
The Production Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise from our manufacturers, receiving inspection, in-service issues, and ongoing operations regarding engineering (technical investigations, root cause analysis, drawing changes, process improvements). This person will prioritize work based on input from quality, sales, and procurement while determining the most effective engineering solution to meet requirements. A strong interest in understanding how things work, determining critical features, and analyzing mechanism characteristics is important.
Familiarity with manufacturing capabilities and techniques of machined parts will add to the ability for manufacturing reviews of development drawings from other engineers.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and implement the production processes, systems, and equipment that will ensure the product meets the quality, cost, and time standards
- Evaluate the performance and efficiency of the production
- Collaborate with product designers, marketing professionals, quality representatives, technicians, and other engineers
- Strategize the development process, including raw materials, consumable goods, and machinery
- Monitor engineering development and report KPI progress
- Work with team members to address any issues with the production
- Train and guide technicians on the production line
- Estimate the cost of production and the cost of materials needed for production
- Inspect and modify existing designs and prototypes
- Maintain quality and safety throughout engineering and production processes
- Troubleshoot equipment and systems after installation
- Design layouts for systems and equipment
- Understand blueprints and schematics for correct systems and equipment
Experience and Skills
- 1-2 years in experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial setting
- Experience with maintaining and repairing machine equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Experience and proficiency in programming DAQ systems, PLCs, and other automation devices
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift moderately heavy objects
- The ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings as well as a basic background check
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English
- The ability to follow instructions and keep detailed records accurately
- Must be able to report to work on a regular and timely basis
- Detail oriented
- Knowledge of FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations and industry standards is a plus
Physical Requirements
- The ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Manual dexterity
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time
- Frequent use of hand tools and other repair equipment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or technology is required
- Previous aviation experience is strongly recommended
Compensation
- Salary position commensurate with experience, bonus based on company and individual performance ($80K)
