About the Job


We are currently looking for a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist who is looking to gain valuable experience with a high-volume fast-paced global company. This role is responsible for preparing and processing payrolls for employees within the company. Their duties include collecting timesheet data, calculating wages, issuing statements, detailing earnings, and preparing paychecks. They also ensure that payroll transactions comply with company policies and federal, state, and local laws. This role will work closely with the Human Resources department and may assist with benefits administration.

Attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and a high level of integrity are essential qualities for this role.An excellent payroll specialist has a great understanding of the concept of confidentiality. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication abilities. The goal is to carry out all payroll procedures with speed and accuracy. We need a team player who is willing to “do what it takes,” is flexible, and can manage concurrent tasks/projects.This is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities:


  • Pay employees by calculating pay and deductions and issuing checks.
  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary.
  • Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determine payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers’ compensation payments.
  • Communicates payroll deductions to retirement administrators for 401(k) plans and other pre-taxation savings plans.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, or year-end calculations of bonuses, and other salary-based compensation.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and interacting with HR.
  • Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:


  • BA is a plus - must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • 2-4 years experience in accounting/payroll or related field
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook skills
  • Understand intercompany transactions
  • Experienced with MAS/Sage 100 Software is a plus

A reasonable, good-faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base salary for this position is $31-$36 per hour.
