Position Overview:
At Carbon Direct, we specialize in empowering clients to achieve their carbon management goals through expert guidance and innovative solutions. As a Client Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our team of expert scientists and the diverse needs of our clients in the tech sector. We are looking for mid-career professionals with tech industry experience looking to pivot into a client-facing climate role to work alongside our science and technical experts to drive carbon management strategy development and client engagements.
Your insights into how technology companies think about climate and how they work on decarbonization will be instrumental in driving impactful projects that contribute to our clients' sustainability objectives. Responsibilities include leading problem-solving efforts, coordinating client communications, acquiring subject matter expertise, business development, and supporting the creation of deliverables. Client Engagement Managers facilitate major projects and coordinate across teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading Client Engagements: Serve as the primary point of contact between our business and science teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment throughout the engagement process including retention and upsell of current accounts
- Developing Statements of Work: Craft comprehensive and tailored statements of work that outline project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Project Management Leadership: Take charge of project management activities, overseeing key milestones and driving progress to ensure timely delivery of results.
- Internal Collaboration: Foster collaboration and buy-in across internal teams, leveraging your leadership skills to drive alignment and shared objectives.
- Deliverable Creation: Contribute to high-quality analytical deliverables that demonstrate deep industry expertise and enhance client service.
- Senior Client Advisory: Provide expert advice and deliver compelling presentations to senior client executives, guiding them toward informed decision-making.
- Industry Expertise Acquisition: Acquire in-depth knowledge within the tech sector, staying abreast of market trends and emerging best practices.
- Business Development: Identify strategic areas for growth with an eye toward carbon management trends by industry, develop and build new relationships, and contribute to revenue targets.
- Effective Communication: Develop coherent messaging and communicate effectively to diverse audiences, translating scientific findings into actionable business insights.
Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Prior experience working in carbon management or sustainability-focused roles within the tech industry.
- Business Development Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in business development, including problem-solving, proposal creation, RFP responses, and deal execution
- Client Communication: Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging client presentations and communications.
- Climate Knowledge: Experience with climate topics, dedicated exposure to carbon markets, and decarbonization strategy are considered a strong asset.
- Scientific Translation: Ability to translate complex scientific findings and recommendations into actionable business insights.
- Cross-Functional Contribution: Capacity to contribute across multiple team functions, including high-level communication, deck refinement, and data analysis.
- Track Record of Success: Outstanding track record of success in past professional and academic endeavors, demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
- Scientific Background: Experience in a relevant scientific or engineering field is advantageous, as is experience communicating with scientists or academics.
Salary
$117,000-$143,000
